Description

A harmonious and elegant fine Italian wine by Antinori

The estate

Prunotto is an Italian estate with a cultural, historical and traditional winemaking tradition. The wines produced have the typical scents of the grapes grown in its surrounding hills. The various vineyards of the Antinori - Prunotto estate are located in the best agricultural areas of Piedmont. The estate uses all the modern technology necessary to produce high quality Piedmont wines.

The vineyard

The 50 hectares of the estate are located in Alba, at an equal distance from Barbaresco and Barolo. This iconic name among Piedmont wines is set on a beautiful, smooth and colourful plain in the Langhe and Roero region.

The vintage

The 2019 vintage begans with a winter that, with the exception of some snowfall and occasional rainfall, enjoyed above average seasonal temperatures. This advanced the vine’s early growth, particularly in the most exposed vineyards. Spring was cold and marked by rainfall from April to the end of May, which reduced the number of grapes per bunch and thus limited production. June was hot and dry and was followed by rainfall in mid-July. The excellent temperature variations during August and the work carried out in the vineyard led to the preservation of the fruit. September was characterised by pleasant temperatures and clear weather, all of which lasted until mid-October. Although it was a difficult year, with a long harvest and limited production, the 2019 vintage produced grapes with an excellent quality.

Winemaking and ageing

The selected grapes were destemmed and crushed. Maceration lasted about 8 days at a maximum temperature of 30°C. The wine was then aged for about a year in different-sized oak barrels.

Blend

Nebbiolo (100%).
