2012 Beaune Premier Cru, Chardonnay, Burgundy.
Domaine Chanson is one of the principal proprietors of the Clos des Mouches climat with a plot of 4.5 hectares. The latter was used to produce the 2012 Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Mouches. This pure Chardonnay wine comes from a sunny terroir with an ideal location on the hills of the Mont-Saint-Désiré and a good South-East orientation. The 2012 Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Mouches of Domaine Chanson was aged in oak barrels for 14 months. All those conditions resulted in a generous and ample wine. A good aromatic finesse is felt with spicy and apple hints. The palate is near and vibrant. A nice mineral character and a well-integrated acidity are also felt.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc from Chanson has a slightly disjointed nose at first, flinty and smoky, some SO2 needing to be fully subsumed. The palate is well balanced but does not possess the complexity of its peers. It seems a little commercial and punter friendly on the finish. Nothing wrong with that, but it lags behind others in this blind flight.
