Chanson : Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru "Les Chenevottes" Domaine 2012

Burgundy - Chassagne-Montrachet - White - 13.5° Chanson Chanson 2012 E333/12
  • J. Robinson : 16,5

2012 Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Chardonnay, Burgundy.

The complex and balanced 2012 Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Chevenottes is pure Chardonnay. It comes from an exceptional plot which grows near Montrachet and the famous "pierre de Chassagne" (Chassagne rock) composed of a mainly calcareous- clay soil. The East orientation and the fresh air create favourable conditions for a pure and aromatically fresh wine. The year of ageing in oak barrels brings a good aromatic complexity. The bouquet is nervous and dominated by lemon notes. The palate offers a clean and precise wine with a nice mineral aspect.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru les Chenevottes from Chanson is discombobulated by too much sulfur on the nose and it lacks the fruit concentration of say, Philippe Colins' Chassagne 2012 whites. The palate is balanced but simple. Overall it seems a little flat-footed and missing some tension and nervosité towards the finish. I would play it safe and drink this over the next couple of years.
