Description
A brilliant dry white wine from Sauternes with exotic aromas
The estate
A Sauternes Classified First Growth of 1855, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the most prestigious names in the iconic sweet wine appellation, located south of the Bordeaux region. This historical wine estate, whose origins date back to the 12th century, has survived through the centuries, with great brilliance and prestige. Beyond its famous Sauternes sweet wine, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is also known for its exquisite Bordeaux dry white wine.
The vineyard
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has an exceptional terroir with a 5-hectare vineyard dedicated to its Bordeaux dry white. The vineyard is cultivated by means of sustainable agriculture.
The vintage
In Sauternes, the humidity was felt more strongly than in other appellations in the year 2019, allowing for the reduction of water stress on the vines. The fruit were perfectly balanced by the time of the harvest, which took place on the mornings of September 13, 16 and 17, 2019.
The blend
Sauvignon blanc (62%), sémillon (38%)
The winemaking
Fermentation for 2 weeks in 500L barrels.
The ageing
Ageing for 6 months in 500L barrels. 15% new French oak barrels.
The tasting
In this 2019 vintage, the dry white wines of Lafaurie-Peyraguey were simply brilliant. The bouquet is quite intense, dominated by aromas of grapefruit, mango and lemon, characteristic of ripe sauvignon blanc. On the palate, the semillon lends its full texture to the Lafaurie-Peyraguey Dry White 2019. The resolutely gourmand palate lingers long, offering plenty of exotic notes.
