Château le Bon Pasteur 1996: Great vintage in Pomerol
The Château le Bon Pasteur is a family estate on the border between Pomerol and Saint-Emilion at a place called "Maillet". Michel Rolland, an internationally renowned consultant, took over it in 1979. The property extends over 6.7 hectares planted with Merlot and Cabernet Franc on clay-gravel and gravel-sand soils.
The 1996 growing season was historically hot and early budding in Pomerol. For the Château le Bon Pasteur, the different stages of the season took place in beautiful conditions. The harvest started on September 29 with promising and superbly ripe and concentrated berries. The Château le Bon Pasteur 1996 from the Pomerol appellation has a superb concentration framed by an impeccable structure. The wine is balanced, very aromatic and displays a real personality. It also has significant ageing potential.
