A Saint-Joseph wine combining power and refinement

A wine of exception, only produced in the best vintages and in very limited quantities, the Sainte-Épine 2015 of Delas Frères offers a pure expression of one of the greatest terroirs in the Northern Rhone Valley, that of the Saint-Joseph appellation.

A cuvee paying tribute to the varietal of choice in this area, the mighty Syrah, the Saint-Joseph red Sainte-Épine 2015 of the Delas is made from grapes harvested exclusively from the "Sainte-Épine" area. This hillside of the town of Saint-Jean de Muzols, in the Ardèche, is located in the heart of the Saint-Joseph appellation. Enjoying an ideal southern exposure, the vineyard is planted in light soils of shale and gneiss on a granite base, which gives a particular minerality to the wine.

Product of a truly exceptional vintage, the Saint-Joseph Rouge Sainte-Épine 2015 shows off a dark ruby colour with violet hues. The olfactory palette reveals a succession of complex aromas that evolve when the wine is aerated. Delicious black fruits give way to sweet and spicy notes, along with fine mineral notes reminiscent of graphite, highlighted by discreet woody touches. On the palate, the wine reveals great concentration and complexity. The aromas of this wine develop significantly as it breathes, revealing finely grained tannins of superbly dense and well balanced structure. Powerful and persistent, the wine offers a great length. An exceptional St. Joseph, ready to be savored now, but will also flourish spectacularly by 2020. To allow this wine to fully express the magnitude of its personality, it is advisable to decant for one hour before tasting.
