Description
A red Tuscan with a rich structure
Toscana "Fontalloro" 2011 from Felsina is a single-variety Sangiovese red wine produced in the Toscana appellation, produced from the best grapes on the vineyard. The terroir is composed of various soil types due to its location, bordering the Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi appellations. The soil is a composition of stones and limestone, sandy silt, pebbles and sediment in the Chianti Colli Senesi appellation. Fermentation took place for 16 - 20 days in stainless steel tanks, while the wine was reared in French oak barrels, new or used once, for a period of 18 - 22 months.
At the tasting, Toscana "Fontalloro" 2011 from Felsina presents a rich and intense ruby red colour. The nose is generous and releases powerful aromas of herbs, tobacco, soil (wet and dry), blackcurrant and liquorice. It has a superb consistency in the mouth and smooth tannins that provide exceptional aging potential. A wine with a rich, elegant and refined structure on the finish.
