Characteristics and tasting tips for the Viré-Clessé Village 2022 by Albert Bichot
Tasting
Appearance
The colour is pale yellow with straw-yellow highlights.
Nose
The bouquet is fine and intense, dominated by fruity notes. It reveals aromas of lemon and mango, accompanied by subtle floral nuances reminiscent of rose.
Palate
The palate presents a harmonious structure, underscored by marked minerality. A slight sweetness on the finish gives a beautiful aromatic length.
Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs perfectly with finely prepared fish and seafood, such as monkfish blanquette, trout or mussels. It also elegantly accompanies white meats and poultry, whether grilled or served with light sauces, such as a pullet in cream sauce. Frog legs, asparagus as well as goat cheese and Comté are also excellent combinations.
Service and storage
The Viré-Clessé Village 2022 is ideally served at a temperature between 11 and 13°C. This wine can be enjoyed in its youth to fully appreciate its fruity expression, or cellared until around 2027 to gain complexity.
A rich and elegant wine from Viré-Clessé
The estate
Founded in Monthélie in 1831 by Bernard Bichot, the Albert Bichot house permanently settled in Beaune in 1912. Under the direction of Albéric Bichot since 1996, representing the sixth generation of the family, the estate manages a wine heritage of over 100 hectares, spread across six estates in Burgundy. A pioneer of organic viticulture certified since 2014, Albert Bichot combines centuries-old tradition with responsible modernity, cultivating Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Aligoté and Gamay on 13 hectares of Grand Crus and 26 hectares of Premier Crus.
The vineyard
This Viré-Clessé wine comes from a strict selection of vineyards, mostly located on slopes and resting on limestone soils with white pebbles.
Winemaking and ageing
The Viré-Clessé Village 2022 is produced using methods that respect the terroir. Alcoholic fermentation and ageing on fine lees take place 80% in stainless steel tanks and 20% in oak barrels for a period of 8 to 9 months. This combination allows the freshness of the fruit to be preserved while imparting a subtle aromatic complexity.
Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay, the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy.
