For nearly two centuries, Maison Bollinger has embodied the excellence of Champagne. Founded in 1829 in Aÿ, in the heart of Champagne, this family-owned institution remains one of the few great houses to have preserved its independence.
Iconic cuvées with a distinctive character
Special Cuvée, a timeless signature
This flagship cuvée immediately reveals the house style: a luminous golden hue and a delicate effervescence with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose unveils aromas of ripe fruit, notably pear and fresh walnut, enhanced by characteristic spicy notes. On the palate, the structure asserts itself with elegance, driven by the dominance of Pinot Noir, which lends breadth and length. Its remarkable versatility allows for a wide range of pairings, from cured ham and Parmesan as an aperitif to noble shellfish such as grilled lobster, as well as sushi, foie gras or dishes featuring truffles and morels.
Bollinger Rosé, the art of blending
Composed of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier, this blended rosé displays a robe with captivating deep bronze highlights. The bouquet expresses small red fruits with finesse: redcurrant, cherry and wild strawberry, complemented by the spicy touch that defines the house's identity. This cuvée is particularly well suited to enhancing the iodine flavours of langoustine, lobster and salmon. It also pairs beautifully with mildly spiced Japanese cuisine and fruit-based desserts such as strawberry or raspberry tarts.
La Grande Année, the vintage expression
Produced only in exceptional years, this prestigious cuvée reveals an aromatic palette of rare richness. The nose unveils subtle and complex aromas, while the palate combines freshness and silkiness. An extended ageing, twice as long as the appellation requires, gives it remarkable cellaring potential.
Available as a rosé, La Grande Année Rosé charms with its texture, at once creamy and indulgent, making it the ideal match for duck breast, pigeon, quail or guinea fowl.
An exceptional vineyard heritage
The vineyard, a jewel of Champagne
The estate spans 178 hectares across seven Grand Cru-classified villages and fourteen Premier Cru-classified villages. This remarkable proportion of classified vines places the estate among the most prestigious in the region. The vineyard extends across three distinct geological zones: the Montagne de Reims with its limestone and chalk soils, the Vallée de la Marne with its clay-limestone terroirs, and the Côte des Blancs with its characteristic chalky slopes.
La Côte aux Enfants, an iconic monopole
This legendary plot located in Aÿ is the jewel of the estate. This monopole yields an outstanding Pinot Noir, vinified as a red wine in certain years to craft the rosé champagnes. The optimal exposure and unique geological composition of this plot give the grapes remarkable concentration and finesse.
A preserved artisanal expertise
Vinification in oak barrels
The House upholds a method that has become rare: the systematic vinification of part of the production in oak barrels. This time-honoured practice brings aromatic complexity and structure to the base wines, while allowing a natural micro-oxygenation that fosters the harmonious evolution of the champagnes.
Extended ageing, the hallmark of complexity
The maturation time on lees far exceeds legal requirements, reaching twice the minimum period set by the appellation. This patience allows the development of subtle tertiary aromas and a distinctive creamy texture. The reserve wines, preserved in an exceptional stock of magnums, enrich the blends with their maturity and depth.
A lineage of iconic figures
Jacques Bollinger, a young German from Württemberg, joined forces in 1829 with Paul Renaudin and Count Athanase de Villermont to found the House. From the outset, the pursuit of excellence and an artisanal approach shaped the identity of this family business, which has managed to preserve its independence over the centuries.
Lily Bollinger, a legendary figure at the helm of the estate from 1941 to 1971, developed the brand's international renown. Her legacy endures in the qualitative rigour and elegance of the cuvées.
Today, the House remains an essential benchmark for prestige champagne, combining family independence, artisanal methods and unwavering standards. From Brut Special Cuvée to the exceptional vintages, the range offers a palette of expressions to accompany every tasting occasion, from aperitif to the most refined dishes.
