With 22 wine-producing regions, Hungary is the 14th largest wine-producing country in the world. Hungary has been cultivating vines since antiquity and the conquest of the southern Danube during the Roman campaigns. Famous for its sweet white wines such as Tokaj, nicknamed by Louis XIV "Wine of kings, kings of wines," Hungary also produces floral and fruity white wines as well as red wines that have a light style.

The Carpathian mountain chain that traverses the country constitutes the main relief to the large plains stretching as far as the eye can see that constitute the rest of the country’s topology, particularly in the southeast. Located north of the Balkans, Hungary enjoys a cool and windy climate, but is generally sunny in the north, allowing the native grape varieties such as Furmint and Tramini to ripen perfectly until the late harvest. In the south of the country, the hot summers favour international red and white grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Hungary represents an exceptional mosaic of soils. There are volcanic soils as well as limestone, loess, chalk and sand soils. These climatic and soil contrasts mark the personality of the wines, warm in the south and lighter in the north.
