The estate

Arthur Gras now runs the family estate founded in 1979 by his father, Alain Gras, in Saint-Romain, in the Côte de Beaune. The vineyard spans 15 hectares across Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses and Meursault. Arthur Gras follows a sustainable philosophy, favoring reasoned viticulture with no pesticides or herbicides. The altitude and cool limestone, together with hand harvesting and measured aging, characterize this approach focused on freshness, elegance and the expression of terroir.

The vineyard

This Monthélie wine comes from 50-year-old vines planted in the lieux-dits Combe d'Anay and Les Rivaux. The vineyard enjoys south and southeast exposures on gravelly Botanian limestone soils topped with red clay and marl. This 0.72-hectare area allows for a limited production of 5,000 bottles.

Winemaking and aging

Hand harvesting precedes fruit-respectful vinification with 20% whole clusters. A 10-day maceration includes pump-overs and punch-downs before pneumatic pressing. Aging of Monthélie Vieilles Vignes 2023 takes place in barrels and tanks for 12 months before bottling.
