On the palate, this wine charms with its richness and clearly defined tannic structure. Its velvety texture coats the palate, revealing juicy flavors of red and black fruits. The balance between freshness, concentration, and fine tannins lends the whole a beautiful harmony. The finish stands out for its remarkable length and persistence.
Food and Wine Pairings
This Nuits-Saint-Georges Village 2019 is an ideal match for game dishes such as roe deer or venison. It also pairs perfectly with beef in sauce, spice-roasted poultry, as well as aged cheeses like Comté or Parmesan. Snails with garlic and parsley butter also make a classic and successful pairing.
Serving and Cellaring
It is recommended to serve this Nuits-Saint-Georges Village 2019 between 15 and 18°C. Opening it about an hour before serving will allow the wine to fully express itself. An Elegant, Structured Nuits-Saint-Georges from Burgundy
The Estate
Founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard in Beaune, the House of Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s most prestigious institutions. With around 130 hectares across the Côte d'Or, including 12 hectares in Grand Cru and 74 hectares in Premier Cru, it is the region’s largest estate owner. Acquired in 2022 by Artémis Domaines (the Pinault family), the estate is now led by Frédéric Engerer. Its flagships include the Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus monopoly and outstanding parcels in Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, and Corton-Charlemagne.
The Vineyard
The Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation stretches across the southern part of the Côte de Nuits, between Dijon and Beaune. The vines benefit from east-facing exposure on moderate slopes, encouraging optimal ripening of Pinot Noir. Clay-limestone soils enriched with limestone debris give the wines their hallmark minerality and the structure that has made Nuits-Saint-Georges renowned. This terroir produces powerful red wines while preserving elegance and finesse.
The Vintage
The 2019 vintage in Burgundy stood out for its favorable weather conditions. After a relatively mild winter and spring frosts in April that reduced yields, the hot, dry summer delivered excellent grape concentration. High temperatures before veraison promoted a remarkable balance between ripeness and freshness. Harvest took place in sunny conditions, resulting in red wines combining concentration, finesse, and well-preserved acidity.
Winemaking and Aging
The grapes for this Nuits-Saint-Georges Village 2019 are harvested by hand. After full or partial destemming depending on the vintage’s needs, vinification takes place in small vessels, allowing precise temperature control. Maceration lasts between 15 and 18 days depending on the vintage profile. Gentle pressing preserves the delicacy of Pinot Noir. Aging then takes place for 12 months in French oak barrels, around 25% of which are new, bringing complexity and structure without masking the expression of the terroir.
Grape Variety
100% Pinot Noir.
