Description
A precise and balanced Chablis premier cru
The estate
The Maison Louis Jadot, established in 1859, is a real benchmark in Burgundy. Its adventure began with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules" in 1826. Owning prestigious plots of vines, the House passes on its savoir-faire to generation after generation to offer wine lovers the best of Burgundy.
Head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey entrusted his position to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and the role of General Manager to his son Thibault Gagey in September 2022.
The vineyard
The premier cru "Montée de Tonnerre" 2021 is a Chablis wine stemming from a vineyard that rests on marly soils.
Winemaking and ageing
Once the harvest was done by hand, the grapes were taken to be carefully pressed. The fermentation then took place in casks made in the Louis Jadot cooperage. Ageing was between 13 and 15 months on fine lees.
The vintage
2021 was a year marked by severe frost at the beginning of April and unstable weather conditions throughout the year in Burgundy. Despite a below-average harvest, the quality is reflected through the floral and well-balanced white wines as well as vibrant, full and aromatic red wines.
