A great Chilean red wine harmoniously combining finesse and freshness

The Estate

Viña Almaviva was established in 1997 through a collaboration between Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and Don Alfonso Larrain, President of Viña Concha y Toro. The Viña Almaviva project was born from the ambition to produce an exceptional Chilean wine, combining French viticultural expertise with the unique expression of the Central Valley terroir.

The Vineyard

Located in the heart of the splendid Chilean Maipo Valley, the Almaviva vineyard covers an area of 50 hectares. The grape varieties typical of the Bordeaux region thrive perfectly on this remarkable Central Valley terroir. Almaviva is now recognized as a major reference among the great wines of the Central Valley worldwide.

The Vintage

The winter of 2022 was very dry, with 119 mm of rainfall, 41% below the historical average, and temperatures alternating between mild and cold periods. Spring saw little rain (7 mm) and fluctuating weather during flowering, causing slight shatter in the Cabernet Sauvignon. The summer was exceptionally hot, with temperatures well above normal, leading to accelerated ripening of the grapes and an early harvest beginning on March 9. The harvests concluded at the end of April in Puente Alto and at the beginning of May in Peumo.

Winemaking and Aging

This wine from Puente Alto was aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, 73% new.

Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (74%)
Carménère (19%)
Cabernet Franc (5%)
Petit Verdot (2%).
