Harvested between September 28th and October 15th 2015, the blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot gives the 2015 Marquis d’Alesme a power and elegance at once. With more size and strength than previous vintages, this Margaux combines concentration and finesse. The robe is like blue ink with few bright highlights. The nose reveals aromas of black fruits that jump out of the glass without aeration. Notes of crushed blackberries wrapped in fresh licorice appear on the palate. The attack on the mouth is racy and leaves room for powerful, civilized, extracted, ripe tannins. Marquis d’Alesme has a strong character and impresses. This wine will have no difficulty to face the test of time if one considers it will be ripe for drinking between 2028 and 2048.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2015 Marquis d'Alesme Becker is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Franc that was cropped at 35 hl/ha between 28 September and 15 October. Matured in 65% new oak, it has a precocious bouquet with opulent violet-tinged cassis fruit that needs to find a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, plenty of depth with a crisp line of acidity, with impressive density on the finish that would be enhanced with more precision.
