Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2022 by Albert Bichot
Tasting notes
Appearance
The Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2022 displays a deep red colour with purple and garnet highlights, revealing the youth and concentration of this grand cru from the Côte de Nuits.
Nose
The nose stands out for its rich red fruit, led by raspberry and cherry, supported by delicate floral touches as well as spicy and mineral nuances that bring complexity and depth to the whole.
Palate
On the palate, the wine charms with its energy and freshness, carried by well-measured acidity and fine yet present tannins. The texture, generous without being heavy, extends into a long, flavourful finish combining red fruit, spicy notes and mineral touches.
Food and wine pairings
This grand cru will pair beautifully with noble red meats, roasted game birds and fine poultry served with a mushroom or truffle sauce. It also goes very well with dishes in a rich brown sauce enhanced with morels or porcini mushrooms.
Serving and cellaring
The Latricières-Chambertin 2022 is best served at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. Decanting for a few hours will allow the bouquet to express itself fully and soften its still youthful tannic structure. This wine can be kept for several years, with an ideal drinking window extending to around 2040.
Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru, the Refined Signature of the Côte de Nuits at Albert Bichot
The estate
Founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot in Monthélie, the house of Albert Bichot settled in Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, in 1912. Led by Albéric Bichot since 1996, this family-owned house relies on six estates spread from the Chablis region to Beaujolais, including the Domaine du Clos Frantin in the Côte de Nuits. Recognised for its sustainable viticulture and minimally interventionist winemaking, it perpetuates a savoir-faire founded on respect for the terroir and close control of the grapes from the vineyard onwards.
The vineyard
The Latricières-Chambertin climat lies in the Côte de Nuits, on the edge of the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation, between Mont Luisant and Chambertin. The soil is composed of limestone clays resting on marls and thick beds of limestone, with a thin layer of siliceous scree from the Grissard valley. This lean soil, which gives the climat its name, limits the vigour of the vines and favours the concentration of the grapes.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage in the Côte de Nuits was marked by a hot, sunny summer, allowing the Pinot Noir to reach full ripeness while retaining appreciable freshness. The Latricières-Chambertin harvest was carried out on 5 September by the house team, at a moment judged ideal for preserving the balance between ripeness and acidity.
Vinification and ageing
The Latricières-Chambertin 2022 benefits from a maceration period of 20 to 28 days, allowing a measured extraction of phenolic compounds. The wine is then transferred by gravity to the ageing cellars, where it spends 14 to 16 months in oak barrels of varied origins and toasting levels, notably Tronçais and Allier, for a discreet, well-integrated oak influence.
Grape variety
This grand cru is made from Pinot Noir.
