An elegant expression of the Italian terroir of Piedmont

The estate

The Prunotto estate, owned by the renowned Antinori family, is a respected producer located in the Piedmont wine region. This prestigious brand crafts wines of great elegance, perfectly reflecting the identity of its terroir. Today, the Antinori family is at the helm of the estate, passionately perpetuating a unique expertise in the production of fine wines.

The vineyard

The grapes used to produce this Barbaresco come from carefully tended vineyards in the Treiso and Neive sectors, located at the heart of the appellation.

The vintage

The growing season began with warm and dry weather until mid-May, followed by heavy rainfall, particularly in the Alba area of the Langhe. From July onwards, temperatures returned to seasonal norms, despite a few summer storms. Although these weather conditions led to a decrease in yields, they in no way affected the quality or the optimal ripening of the grapes.

Winemaking and aging

The harvest took place from 2 to 12 October. After a rigorous selection, the berries are destemmed and crushed. Skin maceration lasts approximately eight days, with the fermentation temperature kept below 30 °C. Malolactic fermentation is completed before the end of the winter period. Finally, this Barbaresco 2023 is aged for around one year in oak barrels of various sizes, a method that gives this Italian wine remarkable balance and great suppleness.
