Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru "La Maltroie" 2025 from Au Pied du Mont Chauve

Tasting

Nose
The aromatic bouquet of this cuvée typically expresses notes of white-fleshed fruits, such as pear and apple, harmoniously complemented by floral touches and a fine minerality.

Palate
Combining opulence and precision, the palate offers a superb balance between freshness and roundness. The structure, both rich and taut, extends into a flavourful finish with remarkable length.

Food and wine pairing
This great white wine pairs beautifully with delicate dishes such as green asparagus, lobster bavarois, or scallop carpaccio. Its generosity and power also allow it to elevate refined white meats, such as poultry or veal in sauce.

Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 11 and 13°C. This vintage has excellent ageing potential and can be cellared for approximately 8 to 10 years.

Other characteristics
This French white wine is offered en primeur, reflecting its prestige and the enthusiasm it inspires among wine lovers.

The elegance and precision of a great white wine from Chassagne-Montrachet

The estate
Founded in the late 2000s, the Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate carries forward the rich legacy of the Picard family, whose winemaking history in Burgundy began in 1951. Now led by Francine Picard, the estate spans 35 hectares of prestigious terroirs. Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, the domaine stands out for its deep commitment to biodynamics and agro-ecology. This environmentally respectful approach, combined with natural winemaking, gives rise to wines of rare precision and elegance.

The vineyard
This cuvée comes from the "La Maltroie" climat, ideally situated at the top of the slope in the commune of Chassagne-Montrachet. This gently sloping terroir rests on complex clay-limestone soils, marked by the presence of rocks known as "Loups" and a marl fault line. The vines, around thirty years old, are farmed according to the principles of biodynamics and agro-ecology, without synthetic inputs, to nurture soil life and allow the authentic expression of the subsoil.

Winemaking and ageing
This wine is crafted in strict respect of Burgundian tradition. The estate favours as natural an approach as possible, with fermentations carried out in oak barrels and extended ageing on fine lees, aimed at preserving aromatic purity and the transparency of the terroir.
