Description
A South African white wine with a seductive richness and precision
The estate
Beaumont Family Wines is a family-run estate located in Bot River in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. The origins of the estate hark back to 1974, when Jayne and Raoul Beaumont began planting vines on the grounds of a farmhouse built in the 1700s. Since 2015, Sebastian Beaumont has been the second generation to manage this estate which is known for its elegant and aromatic South African wines.
The vineyard
"Hope Marguerite" Chenin Blanc by Beaumont Family Wines is a Western Cape wine that pays tribute to Hope Marguerite Beaumont, Sebastian Beaumont's ancestor, who was driven by a great love for wine. Produced since 1997, this wine is made from a rigorous selection of grapes that stem from two of the oldest Chenin Blanc vineyards, planted in 1974 and 1978.
The vintage
The winter was cold and moderately rainy. The vegetative cycle took place under mild conditions. The harvested grapes boasted a high quality.
Vinification and ageing
In a search for aromatic purity, the fermentation is carried out with natural yeasts in French oak barrels. Minimal intervention. Partial malolactic fermentation. Aged for 10 months on the lees, with regular stirring of the lees. Final blending and bottling in early 2021.
The blend
Chenin Blanc (100%).
