Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Meursault Village Domaine 2023 from Bouchard Père & Fils

Tasting notes

Appearance
The colour reveals a beautiful pale gold hue, enhanced by delicate green highlights.

Nose
Rich and displaying beautiful complexity, the nose exhales aromas of white fruits and citrus intertwined with floral notes. Aeration reveals subtle touches of dried fruits, such as walnut, along with pastry-like nuances reminiscent of brioche, all underpinned by an elegant mineral framework.

Palate
The palate seduces with its perfect balance between generosity and freshness. Dense yet subtle, it unfolds a lovely mineral vivacity that brings tension without any heaviness, stretching towards a finish where a very discreet oakiness integrates seamlessly.

Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with refined fish served in a creamy or buttery sauce, such as fillet of turbot or sole. It will also complement noble crustaceans like lobster, or white meats in sauce, such as poultry with cream and mushrooms.

Serving and cellaring

Endowed with a beautiful structure, this Meursault Village Domaine 2023 can be enjoyed now, but also has the ageing potential to develop in the cellar until around 2030.

The estate

Founded in 1731 in Beaune, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest houses in Burgundy. Historically a wine merchant, the estate has built up an exceptional viticultural heritage over the centuries. Acquired in 2022 by the Artémis Domaines group, owned by François Pinault, the house has recently reorganised its activities. While its most prestigious crus are now grouped under "Domaine des Cabottes", Bouchard Père & Fils is refocusing on its own terroirs, notably in Meursault. Strongly committed to an environmental approach, the estate is finalising its conversion to organic farming for 2025.

The vineyard

This wine comes from plots located within the communal appellation of Meursault, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. The vines flourish on east and south-east facing slopes, at an altitude ranging between 260 and 300 metres. The terroir consists of soils rich in marl and limestone, giving the grapes a strong geological identity. The vineyard is managed according to sustainable practices, currently undergoing organic conversion, and the harvest is carried out by hand in small crates to preserve the integrity of the fruit.

Vinification and ageing

After rigorous manual sorting, the grapes destined for the Meursault Village Domaine 2023 undergo gentle pressing in two stages. The juices are then vinified in Savigny-lès-Beaune. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels, with a measured proportion of new wood of around 10 to 15%, over several months. The wine is then refined in stainless steel tanks before being bottled and continuing its ageing under the optimal conditions of the estate's underground cellars.
