Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Bourgogne Chardonnay 2022 Bruno Colin

Tasting

Colour
The colour of this white wine from France displays beautiful purity.

Nose
The nose reveals aromas of white flowers and citrus fruits, accompanied by notes of orchard fruit. A mineral touch and subtle hints of vanilla complete this bouquet.

Palate
The palate is very fresh, direct and round. It offers a creamy texture while retaining great precision, carried by flavours of white fruit and a pleasant minerality that extends into a lively finish.

Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as oysters, scallops or lobster. It also goes very well with poultry in a light sauce, dishes based on green vegetables such as asparagus, as well as mild cheeses like brie or fresh mozzarella. It is also perfect as an aperitif.

Service and Storage

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this Bourgogne Chardonnay 2022 at a temperature between 10 and 12 degrees. It can be enjoyed now and will continue to develop, ideally to be drunk until around 2027.

Other Characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of 13%. The bottles are sealed with a wax capsule to ensure better preservation.

The Elegance and Minerality of a Burgundy Wine by Bruno Colin

The Estate

The Bruno Colin estate was founded in 2003 following the division of the historic family property. Located on the prestigious Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, the vineyard spans just over eight hectares across five renowned communes. Today, Bruno Colin and his wife Stéphanie run the estate with passion. The producer quickly built a solid reputation thanks to his respectful approach to the terroirs and his commitment to producing precise wines that faithfully reflect the complexity of each parcel.

The Vineyard

This Bourgogne comes specifically from the plots named Les Craie and Pleuraine. The vines, around twenty-one years old at the time of this harvest, are planted on soils composed of clay and limestone. The estate practises sustainable farming, favouring mechanical soil work and limiting yields to ensure optimal grape quality.

The Vintage

The year began with a dry winter followed by early budbreak in late March, exposing the vines to frost events in April. Spring and summer proved hot and dry, marked by heatwaves and persistent drought. Fortunately, saving rains in late June and then in mid-August helped relaunch ripening. Harvest took place in the first week of September, at the ideal time to preserve the grapes' acidity.

Winemaking and Aging

After gentle pneumatic pressing and cold settling, the fermentation of this Bourgogne Chardonnay 2022 takes place on fine lees in 350-litre French oak barrels, 15% of which are new. The wine then undergoes barrel ageing for twelve months, before being blended in stainless steel tanks for a further three to six months prior to bottling.

Grape Variety

100% Chardonnay.
