Description
Chanson reveals a complex, fresh and delicate Chablis Grand Cru
The estate
It was in 1750 that the great House in Burgundy, Chanson Père & Fils, was created, during the advent of the first trading houses dedicated to the purchase, ageing and resale of wines. The Chanson estate is located at the heart of Beaune, in a superb stronghold nicknamed "La Tour des filles" (the girls’ tower), erected at the beginning of the 16th century as a guard tower, with walls that are 8 metres thick. Built on 4 levels, this historic monument is now dedicated to the ageing of red and white wines which were produced on the estate.
Headed by the talented Vincent Avenel and Jean-Pierre Confuron, famous oenologist and wine-grower from Vosne-Romanée, Chanson Père & Fils is one of the most prestigious estates amongst the Premier Crus in Beaune.
The wide range of wines from the Chanson Père & Fils conveys, with great clarity and precision, all of the diversity and complexity of the greatest terroirs in wine-growing Burgundy.
The vineyard
The Chanson estate covers a 45-hectare vineyard of exclusively Premier and Grand Crus (Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Corton…), planted on the most beautiful appellations in Côte de Beaune. The estate also produces fine Chablis wines.
The wine
The Chablis Grand Cru "Les Preuses" by the Chanson estate covers a total area of 11.4 hectares.
The vintage
A classic winter preceded a spring that was marked by very high temperatures. A cold spell at the beginning of April slowed down vine development. May was very wet. Although the summer was particularly hot, with heatwaves, the stormy spells at the end of August were beneficial for the vineyard. The sanitary state during the harvests was impeccable.
Winemaking and ageing
The harvested grapes are subject to gentle pressing. Vinification is carried out in oak barrels, as is the ageing for 12 to 14 months, with a moderate proportion of new wood.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
