Decanter

Lovely fragranced perfume aromatics with such purity and focus, elements of sticky liquorice and graphite. Smooth and so well balanced, velvety and soft tannins with a touch of cool blueberry and wet stones that linger on the mouth. Ends really cool, stony and fresh. I love the construction and the overall texture. Everything in balance. I love the intensity here, you get layers and texture and fruit with such delicacy and detail. Really a great wine in the making and I love the slightly darker edge to the fruit with some herbal, minty and liquorice spice. It’s got a really long finish too, the flavours last and last. 65% grand vin, no malolactic in barrel, no vinification intégrale. 1% Petit Verdot completes the blend. A yield of 28hl/ha.

Blackberries, black cherries, tobacco, flowers, cedar, cocoa, and leafy, minty herbs fill the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is lifted, fresh, juicy, and supple, with sweet, ripe, vibrant black fruits and cherries. The finish is round, lively, and juicy, with a hint of spice, leaving plenty to enjoy as the wine lingers on your palate. This is a move toward a more refined style of wine, which I really like. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. 13.4% ABV. Harvesting took place September 5 - September 22. Yields were low at 29 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2030-2055. 95-97 Pts

Beautifully knitted down, this has energy and character, classical, sculpted—this is very much what you want from great Left Bank classified, excellent quality, cassis and enrobed silky tannins, cappuccino. No sharp acidity here in any way, balanced with just the right amount of reserve. 2nd vintage in the new cellar since inauguration in 2024. José Sanfins director.

So much detail, such precision and depth in this bouquet! Everything is perfectly measured and harmonious, with subtlety as the guiding thread. On the palate, the wine shows charm and breadth right from the attack—subtly, of course, in keeping with the bouquet. Driven by compact, silky tannins, it has a incisive structure that enhances freshness and character. This can only point to an exceptional wine, beautifully combining density, finesse and energy. Persistent finish. A great success.

Deep red color with purple and black highlights. An intense, refined, fruity nose—subtle, delicate, and with real depth. Precise on the attack, then immediately fleshy and flavorful, the wine unfolds with highly aromatic expression, maintaining a sustained richness throughout. It melts from mid-palate and lingers at length with flavors of dark fruit, spices, and oak. Superb! Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Alcohol: 13%.

Vinum

Deep, with thyme-herb notes over dark berry fruit, joined by rosehip, smoky and floral nuances, and a present, noble barrique influence; on the palate, majestic elegance—crisp, juicy and precise; tannins of the highest quality, silky and seamlessly woven into the fruit, dense and structured, full of pedigree and energy; excellent length, with a fresh, saline finish. Once again, stunningly good.

The brilliance and elegance of a great Margaux

The estate

Founded in 1806 by the Scotsman John Lewis Brown, Château Cantenac Brown stands out for its Tudor-style architecture, unique in the Bordeaux region. Located in the prestigious Margaux appellation, this Third Growth classified in 1855 is now run by the Le Lous family, with Tristan Le Lous at its helm since 2019. The estate combines a rich historical heritage with a modern vision, illustrated by a new eco-friendly cellar. This estate embodies the excellence and authenticity of its terroir, producing wines of great elegance.

The vineyard

Stretching over nearly sixty hectares at the heart of the Margaux appellation, the vineyard rests primarily on gravelly mounds composed of pebbles and fine clay fractions. The estate favours sustainable and reasoned viticulture, promoting biodiversity and manual work. Meticulous interventions are carried out throughout the growing cycle to preserve the natural expression and health of the vines.

The vintage

Winter proved mild and sufficiently rainy, allowing the soils' water reserves to be replenished. Spring, more unsettled, alternated between mildness and damp spells, demanding constant attention. Finally, the summer period offered ideal conditions: the alternation of sunny days and cooler nights encouraged steady ripening of the berries while preserving a beautiful natural acidity. The terroirs also showed remarkable resilience in the face of the summer drought.

Winemaking and aging

Following manual harvesting, the vinification of Château Cantenac Brown 2025 took place in the new cellar, which operates entirely by gravity. Extractions are carried out gently, with fermentations conducted at low temperature, plot by plot and grape variety by grape variety, in order to preserve aromatic purity. Aging then continues for fifteen months in French oak barrels, divided between new barrels (60%) and one-wine barrels (40%).

Grape varieties

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot.
