Description
The complexity and refinement of a fine Pomerol
A must-visit in the prestigious Pomerol appellation, Château Clinet indisputably produces one of the greatest wines on Bordeaux's Right Bank. With a wine legacy whose origins go back to the 17th century, this very lovely estate in Pomerol has produced true gems in recent years. The 2017 vintage confirms this consistency from this exceptional estate, with a Cru appearing at the top of its appellation to signify this quality.
The Pomerol appellation was very successful in 2017 though it was a difficult vintage. The superb clay-gravel soil of Château Clinet located in the heart of the Pomerol plateau avoided the April frosts and was able to enjoy conditions for the making of a great wine. The favourable weather conditions allowed the vines to develop smoothly during the growing season so that the grapes achieved ripeness at the same time. The 2017 vintage is a tribute to all the efforts made by the Château Clinet’s technical team. From the vineyard to the winery, the technical team took extreme care and precision so that the Château Clinet 2017 benefited from the know-how of pest management, horse-drawn ploughs, and state-of-the-art vinification.
A blend dominated by Merlot (92%), complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon (8%), the Château Clinet 2017 is the epitome of a brilliant, classical style from Pomerol.
Complexity and refinement is at the heart of this new vintage. The beautiful maturity of the fruit allows for ripe forest fruit notes, and delicate floral scents subtly highlighted by slightly smoky notes that are reminiscent of toasted barrels, which all contribute expressiveness and harmony. On the palate, the attack reveals the ripeness of the fruit and the perfect balance between tannins and acidity that emphasizes the precision of a slow extraction. Freshness and minerality complete the mouthfeel that stretches into a finish with a lingering length. A fine Pomerol imprinted with the Clinet style.
