Vinum

Deep ruby; complex nose of blackberry, blackcurrant and violet, with pronounced toasted notes and herbal spice; dense palate, fairly compact, building pressure, with structure; very juicy, with wonderful length. Finesse, polish, precision. Can age.

Decanter

Delicate floral and inky aromas. Smooth and very supple, with great energy, vibrancy and lift straight away. Cool and so silky, with slightly fleshy tannins joined by bright acidity that gives this a fun and expressive palate. Characterful and nicely balanced with salty tannins on the finish. Sleek and really well made with energy and focus. Really leans into the vintage yet remains accessible and fresh. Totally moreish. A yield of 35hl/ha.

Flowers, black raspberries, licorice, plums, and just a hint of chocolate open the aromatic profile. The wine is medium-bodied, vibrant, lifted, and fresh, with sweetness and lift to the plums, cocoa, and cherries on the palate. The finish delivers a refreshing hint of mint, adding length and complexity to the wine's elegant stylings. The wine blends 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. 13% ABV, 3.7 pH. Harvesting took place September 23 - October 4. Drink from 2028-2050. 93-95 Pts

Description

An exceptional Pomerol wine from old vines

The estate
Established in the 16th century on the heights of Pomerol, Château Clinet now cultivates its vineyard on 9.8 hectares in production. Under the leadership of Ronan Laborde for many years, this family estate has reclaimed its nobility after its modern rebirth orchestrated by Jean Michel Arcaute and Michel Rolland between 1980 and 2000. The estate stands out thanks to its privileged location on the Pomerol plateau.

The vineyard
This 9.8-hectare producing vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir in Pomerol, planted on clay-gravel soils. This geological mosaic, composed of ancestral terroirs with cool subsoils and gravelly surfaces, flourishes on an open, well-ventilated plateau. The vines, of venerable age with 90-year-old Merlot and 74-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines, come from massal selection and have a high leaf area.

Winemaking and aging
Winemaking favors traditional methods with a gravity-fed reception into small stainless steel tanks. Aging takes place 60% in new barrels and 40% in one-wine barrels.

Blend
This Château Clinet 2024 is the result of a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%).
