Description

A powerful and lively red wine from Saint-Estèphe

The estate

Located in the north of Médoc, on the hill of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d’Estournel stands majestically. Like a true Maharajah's palace, the château and its pagodas surprise and captivate the eye. In 1791, Louis-Gaspard d’Estournel inherited hectares of vines and established the estate. An adventurer who traveled the world, his taste for exoticism and the Orient earned Château Cos d’Estournel its unique architecture in the Médoc. Owned by Michel Reybier since 2000, Château Cos d’Estournel continues to shine in the Saint-Estèphe appellation and joins the ranks of the world's greatest wines, distinguished by its unique style where the pursuit of beauty and excellence is a constant quest.

The vineyard

A reference among the great wines of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d’Estournel enjoys an exceptional geographical location. Its vineyard is situated on the edge of the plateau, in close proximity to the Gironde estuary. The vineyard benefits from a maritime climate while being protected from inclement weather. The vines are planted on two hillsides and a central plateau, enjoying an ideal exposure and good ventilation.

Blend

Château Cos d’Estournel 2006 red is a blend of cabernet sauvignon (78%), merlot (20%), and cabernet franc (2%).
