Description
A fresh, delicate white wine from Pessac-Léognan
The estate
Rooted in the winegrowing history of the Graves since the 18th century, Château Couhins traces its origins to the union of two long-established estates. Now owned by INRAE, it stands out for a unique mission: turning its vineyard into a genuine open-air laboratory dedicated to experimentation and innovation for the viticulture of tomorrow.
The vineyard
The Château Couhins vineyard covers 8 hectares in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. It enjoys an exceptional terroir of clay-limestone slopes and sandy-clay plateaus, offering ideal conditions for the expression of Sauvignon Blanc. This diversity of soils contributes to the complexity and aromatic richness of the wines. The estate practises environmentally friendly viticulture, with an agroecological approach designed to preserve the natural balance of the terroir.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes were pressed as whole bunches in a pneumatic press at low temperature under inert gas. After careful settling, alcoholic fermentation took place in barrels. Ageing continued for 9 months in 300- and 500-litre casks, with regular stirring of the fine lees, giving the wine complexity and volume on the palate.
Blend
Château Couhins Blanc 2024 is a blend of 96% Sauvignon Blanc and 4% Sauvignon Gris.
