Description

A complex and balanced red wine from Margaux

The estate

An 1855 Grand Cru Classé of Margaux, Château Dauzac, is one of the estates that have experienced the most significant improvement in quality in recent decades. Thanks to the tireless work carried out both in the vineyard and in the winery, this magnificent property has become a true emblem of the Margaux appellation.

The vineyard

Enjoying a superb location in the Margaux appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux, the Château Dauzac vineyard covers 45 hectares of vines planted on outcroppings of deep gravel. The vines are 35 to 40 years old on average and produce fine Margaux wines.

The vintage

After a mixed start to the year, sunshine and warm conditions finally set in until September 13th, when some much welcomed rain enabled the grapes to reach optimal maturity. The Indian summer allowed the harvest to last 21 days, the estate’s longest grape harvest.

Vinification and ageing

The 2016 Château Dauzac is aged in French oak barrels (68% new oak) with a few rackings according to the tasting.

The blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (71%)

Merlot (29%).
