Description
The finesse of a truly exceptional, structured and silky Margaux
Product of a vintage marked by significant climatic contrasts in Bordeaux, 2018 will forever be remembered at Château Dauzac, a wonderful estate of the Margaux appellation.
Following one of the milder winters since 1900, a rainy spring required extensive work in the vineyard. For the past 3 years, Château Dauzac has been engaged in research on using seaweed to control downy mildew as an alternative to copper. These methods have helped to maintain the excellent health of the vineyard. The beautifully dry and sunny summer that followed ensured a perfect ripening of the grapes. Beginning on September 17 and continuing until October 8, the harvest was carried out with extreme precision, by relying on an intra-plot selection and a biodynamic calendar whose “fruit days” yielded a harvest of beautiful grapes.
Alcoholic fermentations were carried out naturally with indigenous yeasts from the vineyard.
Featuring a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (68%) and Merlot (32%), the Château Dauzac 2018 achieves "a very delicate complexity rarely seen previously" according to the words of the estate. The Château Dauzac 2018 is distinguished by its expressive aromatic bouquet, evolving notes of ripe cherry, and spices. With plenty of elegance and finesse, the palate displays a beautiful concentrated texture, superbly structured by exceptionally silky tannins. A magnificent vintage for Château Dauzac which will reveal its full expression between 2023 to 2038.
