Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Mercurey Village "Cuvée Hors Ligne" 2024 from Château de Chamirey
Food and Wine Pairings
This red Mercurey pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled red meats, such as a rib of beef or roast duck, as well as poultry served with mushrooms or foie gras. It also complements game meats, such as venison, and finds a fine echo in characterful cheeses such as Tomme de Savoie or Époisses.
Serving and Cellaring
The Mercurey Village "Cuvée Hors Ligne" 2024 is ideally served at around 15°C in a Burgundy wine glass, which allows its aromas to express themselves fully. Briefly decanting it before serving may be beneficial. Bottled exclusively in 1.5-litre magnums, a format traditionally favourable to harmonious ageing, this wine will keep well when stored with care in good cellar conditions.

The Estate
Château de Chamirey is a Burgundy wine estate whose activity was founded in 1934, in the heart of the Mercurey appellation in the Côte Chalonnaise. The building that houses it dates back to the 18th century. Now owned by the Devillard family, the estate upholds a demanding Burgundian winemaking tradition, carried on by several generations of the same family, and ranks among the emblematic estates of the appellation.
The Vineyard
The Pinot Noir for this cuvée comes from a selection of parcels within the Mercurey vineyard, grown on clay-limestone soils enriched with iron and silt. This terroir promotes a steady water supply and even ripening of the grapes, conducive to expressing the character of the appellation.
Winemaking and Ageing
For the production of the Mercurey Village "Cuvée Hors Ligne" 2024, the grapes are hand-harvested and then carefully sorted in the vineyard. The vinification combines pump-overs and gentle extractions, followed by ageing conducted entirely in oak barrels. The wine is then refined for a few months in tank before bottling, carried out exclusively in the 1.5-litre magnum format.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from Pinot Noir.
