Description

The aromatic framework and texture of a Pauillac wine

The estate

A Fifth Growth, classified in 1855, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste spans 90 hectares, including 55 hectares of vineyards in Pauillac, in Bordeaux’s Médoc. Purchased in 1978 by Jean-Eugène Borie, the estate is now run by François-Xavier Borie, joined since 2010 by his daughter Émeline Borie. Established on rises of deep gravel, the estate rests on a renowned terroir, already mentioned as far back as the Middle Ages. Present in the Médoc since 1886, the Borie family has gradually established this estate among Pauillac’s leading names.

The vineyard

In a single contiguous block, this Pauillac vineyard covers 55 hectares on deep gravel soils, with gently undulating relief. The vines average 38 years of age. The estate focuses on mechanical soil work through ploughing and follows a sustainable approach to viticulture.

Grape varieties

Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
