Vinum

Impressively fruity and juicy, first-class tannins, good balance despite the richness, a perfectionist style: an outstanding wine to keep an eye on, a real bargain!

Floral, fresh, medium-bodied, and fruity, with a light touch on the palate, the wine will be easy to enjoy on release, for all of its sweet, bright, red fruits on the mid-palate and in the finish. The fruit is clean, pure and elegant. Drink from 2025-2030. 89-91 pts.

Vertdevin

The nose is spicy, concentrated, and offers an airy quality in its spicy expression as well as a certain subtle, racy/airy power. It reveals notes of wild blackcurrant, nutmeg and, more slightly, blackberry, combined with touches of strawberry and small wild berries, as well as hints of clove, wild pepper, maceron berries, and a delicate hint of graphite/underbrush. The palate is beautifully juicy, fleshy, and gourmand, with a touch of creaminess and an airy, taut profile. There are notes of pulpy cherries, pulpy blackcurrant and, more slightly, purple plum, combined with touches of crushed small red berries, along with hints of blueberry, star anise, licorice, and fine nuances of tonka bean and blond tobacco. The tannins are sapid and plush, with juiciness and minerality. There is a subtle toasted note in the background, and you feel the wine would benefit from decanting. The fruit shows purity, a fine creaminess, and a fleshy, pulpy character. Good length.

Beautiful deep red. Fruity nose. This is a slightly light wine, yet graceful, developing with a silky, aromatic profile, and it’s very pleasant. Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc.

Terre de Vins

Very creamy nose, lovely Pomerol-style nobility, plunging generosity, blackberry cream, an almost patisserie-like velvet, notes of black cherry and quince paste. The palate is nicely wrapped, the texture coats the mouth and is indulgent, with a licorice-tinged glaze supported by a fine grain of tannins that tightens slightly on the finish, with a zesty hint.

Description

The character of a Pomerol red wine

The estate

In 1938, Louis Rapin acquired vineyards in the Montagne Saint-Émilion and Saint-Émilion appellations, including Château La Tour Figeac. Following the acquisition of various plots of vines in 1961, Louis Rapin renamed the estate Château La Rose Figeac. This Pomerol vineyard on Bordeaux’s Right Bank of has been managed by Nathalie Despagne since 2013. As soon as she arrived, Nathalie Despagne undertook numerous works to enable Château La Rose Figeac to shine in the Pomerol appellation.

The vineyard

Château La Rose Figeac 2022 is a Pomerol wine made from a vineyard of 4.56 hectares, of which 4.28 hectares are in production, located south-east of Pomerol on sandy-gravel soils typical of the appellation. Between ploughing, grassing and nature work, the plots of vines are on average 30 years old and have been cultivated organically since 2009, certified by Ecocert.

Winemaking and ageing

Hand-picked in crates, with sorting in the vineyard and in the cellar. Vinification by plot in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Cold pre-fermentation and rendering inert by carbon dioxide. Selection of indigenous yeasts from the best plots. Racking, punching down and delestage alternated over a wide range of hours. Maceration for 2 to 4 weeks, then the wine is run off into barrels for malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged in barrels, 60% new and 40% one-wine barrels.

Blend

Château La Rose Figeac 2022 is a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%).
