The estate
Founded in 1759, Château Laffitte Carcasset is a benchmark estate in Saint-Estèphe. Since 2016, the estate has belonged to the Rousseau family, who continue its excellence with passion.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Laffitte Carcasset covers 35 hectares within the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The vines, averaging 30 years old, are planted on a characteristic terroir of Garonne gravel on the surface and a clay-limestone subsoil.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage is distinguished by its resilience in the face of demanding climatic conditions. An exceptionally wet winter replenished the soil's water reserves, followed by a challenging spring marked by disease pressure. Despite a vegetative delay, flowering and ripening took place under favorable conditions thanks to a summer balanced between heat and drought. The harvest, late but precise, benefited from ideal weather windows and rigorous sorting.
Vinification and aging
Strict intra-parcel selection. Vinification in stainless steel and concrete vats takes place in the new gravity-fed cellar, favoring slow and gentle extractions to preserve aromatic finesse. Aging is carried out over 12 months in oak barrels, 40% of which are new wood.
Blend
81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc.
