Bordeaux - Saint-Estephe - Red - 13.5° Château Lafon-Rochet Château Lafon-Rochet 2015 1054/15
  • Parker : 90-92
  • J. Robinson : 16.5+

A red wine from Saint-Estèphe with elegant tannins

Château Lafon-Rochet is a 4th classified growth produced in the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Aged 30 years on average, the vineyard extends over a total area of 40 hectares and benefits from a terroir composed of deep gravel and gravel over clay. The ageing of the wine is carried out in barrels (of which 50% are new), over a period ranging from 14 to 16 months, depending on the year. The vintage 2015 blends 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot.

The Château Lafon-Rochet 2015 reveals an elegant, complex and fine nose. It first develops aromas of black fruits (black cherries, blackcurrants), along with subtle notes of blueberry, graphite, toasted wood and spices. The wine displays balance, fruitiness, smoothness, deliciousness and precision on the palate, even offering a nice tension. It is silky in the mouth and the tannins are very elegant.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2015 Lafon Rochet is a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, picked between 25 September and 9 October. Matured in 40% to 50% new oak from eight coopers including Stockinger since last year, it has a dense blackberry and boysenberry scented bouquet that is a little more voluptuous than its peers. The palate is again quite dense with stocky tannin, obdurate and a little hard at the moment, structured and clearly a Lafon-Rochet that is built for the long-term. It will need several years to just lose its brutishness.;2025 - 2050
