Château Marsau 2017

Singed cedar, savory and humus accents run alongside a core of currant and bitter cherry fruit, imbuing this with an old-school feel. Reveals a chalky mineral note on the finish. A touch austere but shows good character. Drink now through 2023. 1,500 cases made.

Medium-bodied, forward, open and fresh, with a core of red fruits, green, leafy herbs, and bright, crisp, savory red fruits. You can easily enjoy this on release or age it for a couple of years to add more nuance. The wine was aged with no new oak to maintain the freshness in the fruit.

Made from 100% Merlot, the 2017 Marsau is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It springs from the glass with youthful raspberry coulis, rose oil, aniseed, and wild blueberries, with wafts of lavender and kirsch. The medium-bodied palate is beautifully elegant and refreshing, with fine-grained tannins and a long, mineral-laced finish. This has so much energy!

Well-built, precise and refined, but without the depth of a fine natural vintage.

This is really delicious and already so drinkable with rich cherry and plum character, as well as stone and cement. Medium to full body, creamy and medium-round tannins and a long finish. Burst of red fruit with tile. Crunchy. Savory. 100% merlot. Drink or hold.
