Description
The elegance and silkiness of a perfectly orchestrated Pomerol
Château Petit-Village has experienced a qualitative evolution with its wines that have become serious competitors in the prestigious Pomerol appellation. The Axa Group owns this estate that is located on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region.
Although 2017 was a vintage of contrasts, 2017 was also a vintage that has rewarded Château Petit-Village with one of its most beautiful vintages. The estate escaped the frosts that hit the region at the end of April 2017. Château Petit-Village’s exceptional terroir allowed the berries to achieve perfect ripeness by the time of the harvest. The estate’s talented technical director, Diana Berrouet-Garcia, remarkably orchestrated this vintage through a flawless vinification with gentle extractions to show the best of this “winemaker” vintage.
At tasting, the Château Petit-Village 2017 is a testament to the technical director’s sterling efforts. The blend is dominated by Merlot (71%) and complemented with Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (9%). The Château Petit-Village 2017 offers an aromatic expression that seduces with its intensity and emphasises the purity of small black berry and cherry aromas that evolve into delicate floral notes while vanilla scents reflect the subtle oak from ageing. Straightforward and frank, the palate reveals a silky mouthfeel with fine-grained tannins that envelop the mouth. There is a perfectly balanced brilliant acidity that stretches to a finish full of freshness. This Château Petit-Village joins the ranks of the most beautiful Pomerols in 2017.
