Vinum

Cool fireplace/sooty notes, dark fruit and earthy nuances on the nose; a supple opening, generous fruit, fine-grained tannins, very good acidity structure, and a pleasantly long, balanced, stony-tinged finish on dark berries. A balanced, elegant Siran.

Decanter

Supple and so smooth, really controlled, creamy and juicy with a tangy bite to the cranberry acidity giving a complex and complete expression. Plump, chewy with lots of energy and focus and a long, mineral-liquorice edged finish. Great stuff. It’s definitely on the cool side, there’s no overt opulence or hedonism but there’s sure refinement and enjoyment to be had.

It is the intense bouquet of flowers in the perfume that initially grabs your attention. The energetic palate delivers its sensations of currants, cherries, and spice with ease. The wine is fresh, sweet, and juicy, with a nice purity to the berries in the endnote. The wine blends 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, and 9% Petit Verdot. 13.5% ABV. Harvesting took place September 5 - September 22. This is the earliest harvest in the history of the estate. Drink from 2029 - 2055. 94-96 Pts

Cassis and bilberry fruits, juicy, grilled oak, this has some pretty intense mid-palate expansion and yet retains an unfussy quality with ripe fruit, well balanced, sweet red pepper and Margaux floral character. Yield 32 hl/ha, Edouard Miailhe owner.

Nuances of blackcurrant and blueberry mingle with hints of iris, while notes of cocoa beans emerge in the background. On the palate, the wine stands out for its harmony and its ability to combine power and finesse. The fine-grained tannins are perfectly integrated, in tune with an acidity that is both invigorating and structuring. A delightful wine!

Deep, almost black color with purple highlights. An intense, fruity and refined nose that becomes more floral in the glass, while also showing hints of black fruit. Fleshy on entry, full on the mid-palate, with real flavor and a hedonistic, charming flow, the wine lifts on the finish—long, sappy and even complex in its aromatic nuances. Superb! Blend: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot. Alcohol: 13.5% – pH: 3.59 – IPT: 72. Yield: 32 hl/ha.

The brilliance and precision of a Margaux wine

The estate

Founded in 1428, Château Siran is one of the oldest estates in the Bordeaux region. Owned by the Miailhe family for more than 160 years, the estate is today brilliantly run by Édouard Miailhe. With a 25-hectare vineyard, this iconic cru has made its mark over the centuries thanks to an exceptional family continuity. Open to the public and dedicated to passing on its expertise, this essential estate produces wines renowned for their elegance and consistency, perfectly reflecting the identity of its prestigious terroir.

The vineyard

Located in the south of the Margaux appellation, the vineyard stretches across a ridge rising to 12 metres above sea level, on the edge of the Gironde estuary. This privileged terroir, composed of ancient alluvial deposits covered with fine siliceous gravel and sand, benefits from a temperate oceanic climate and an ideal east-west exposure. The 37 plots, with an average age of 39 years and the oldest vines dating back to 1920, are planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare. The estate practises sustainable viticulture, without any chemical herbicides. The soils are worked mechanically, while double Guyot pruning, debudding, leaf thinning and yield limitation ensure grapes of optimum quality.

The wine

The label of Château Siran 2025 pays tribute to the nine women who, since the estate's founding in 1650, have discreetly shaped and passed on its history. They are Flore du Boscq, Jeanne Félicité du Boscq, Marie Laroque Bouillac, Jeanne Adèle de Toulouse Lautrec, Lovely Miailhe, Adèle Miailhe, Victoria Miailhe and Brigitte Miailhe. The artist Jehanne de Biolley captures their essence through a poetic rebus of timeless symbols, evoking elegance and transmission. A vibrant tribute to these silent guardians of a living heritage.

Vinification and ageing

The grapes used for Château Siran 2025 are hand-harvested into small crates, then rigorously sorted in the vineyard as well as in the cellar on dedicated sorting tables. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats ranging from 60 to 180 hectolitres, punctuated by pump-overs. A post-fermentation maceration is carried out at 26°C for 8 to 14 days, followed by malolactic fermentation partly conducted in new barrels. Finally, the wine is aged for 12 months in fine-grained French oak barrels with medium toasting, 33% of which are new. Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.

Grape varieties
