Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Bourgogne "Clos du Murger" 2024 from Domaine Albert Grivault
Tasting Notes
Appearance
This wine reveals a white-coloured hue.
Nose
The nose opens with delicate aromas of white flowers, accompanied by notes of white-fleshed fruits such as peach and pear. A touch of lemon rounds out this fresh and expressive bouquet.
Palate
Both generous and precise, the palate seduces with its direct, fruity and gourmand character. It is supported by a pleasant acidity that brings lovely freshness, extending into a finish marked by a subtle mineral tension.
Food and Wine Pairing
Ideal as an aperitif, this white wine also pairs beautifully with a platter of shellfish and seafood, roasted or grilled white meats, as well as soft cheeses or a young Comté.
Serving and Cellaring
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this Bourgogne "Clos du Murger" 2024 at a temperature between 8 and 10°C. This wine can be enjoyed now, but it also has good cellaring potential, allowing it to develop until around 2031.
The Gourmand and Mineral Expression of a White Burgundy Wine
The Estate
Founded in 1879 by Albert Grivault following the acquisition of the "Domaine de Meursault", Domaine Albert Grivault is a historic family estate located in the heart of Burgundy. After going through periods of tenant farming, the estate experienced a true revival. Today, the vineyard of approximately 6 hectares is owned by Michel Bardet, while operational management is handled by his daughter, Claire Bardet. Renowned for its pure and mineral white wines, the estate particularly stands out for its monopoly on the prestigious Clos des Perrières.
The Vineyard
This Burgundy wine comes from the lower section of the Clos du Murger, a walled plot ideally situated in the centre of the village of Meursault. The young chardonnay vines planted there benefit from sustainable farming practices. The estate favours soil cultivation, the absence of chemical herbicides and the predominant use of organic treatments in order to preserve biodiversity and the authentic expression of the terroir.
Winemaking and Ageing
The harvest is carried out by hand in small crates to preserve the integrity of the berries, followed by a rigorous sorting process. Fermentation begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. This Bourgogne "Clos du Murger" 2024 is aged for 18 months in oak barrels that have already held between one and five wines, thus avoiding the addition of new wood. Finally, the wine is bottled without any fining or filtration.
