The estate
While the family's winemaking history began in 1630, the official founding of Domaine Ballot-Millot dates back to the early 18th century. Located in Burgundy, this historic estate tends a vineyard of around ten to twelve hectares spread across prestigious appellations of the Côte de Beaune. Representing the sixteenth generation, Charles Ballot has run the estate since 2000. Drawing on his experience abroad, he has driven a major environmental shift, eliminating chemical herbicides in favour of rigorous soil management to enhance the expression of his terroirs.
The vineyard
This Meursault 1er cru comes from the prestigious Genevrières plot. This exceptional terroir is home to some of the estate's oldest Chardonnay vines, with vine stocks aged between sixty-five and seventy years. The vines are tended with the utmost respect for the environment, with mechanical soil work and a significant reduction in phytosanitary treatments.
The vintage
The year 2023 benefited from exceptional weather conditions throughout the growing season, allowing the berries to reach remarkable quality.
Winemaking and aging
The making of the Meursault 1er cru "Genevrières" 2023 is guided by a minimal-intervention philosophy. Cellar practices are carried out with great care to preserve the authenticity of the terroir and the purity of the fruit.
