Description
The precision and refinement of a sweet white wine from the Loire by Belargus
The producer
A passionate winemaker, Ivan Massonnat took over the Pithon-Paillé estate, created by Jo Pithon, in 2018. Located in the Anjou region, Domaine Belargus watches over a 24-hectare vineyard that is managed exclusively using biodynamic methods. Made from meticulously selected Grands Crus, lieux-dits or monopoles, these Loire wines highlight the richness and minerality of the Chenin Blanc varietal.
The vineyard
Domaine Belargus' 2018 Quarts wine comes from the historic parcel from which the Quarts-de-Chaume appellation takes its name. Comprising a surface area of approximately 3.5 hectares, this vineyard is exposed on the hill's south-facing slope.
The wine
This sweet white wine is produced exclusively during fine vintages. This wine is the perfect expression of this exceptional terroir, whose privileged location on a sunny south-facing slope favours an optimal exposure to both the morning mists of the Layon and the regular winds. These are ideal conditions for achieving a botrytis with a rare concentration and aromatic palette.
The blend
Chenin Blanc (100%).
