Description

A Full-Bodied and Beautifully Precise Dry White Wine from the Loire

The estate
In 2018, Ivan Massonnat, a wine enthusiast deeply attached to the terroirs of the Loire, took over the Pithon-Paillé estate founded by Jo Pithon. Now known as Domaine Belargus, this Anjou estate covers 24 hectares, farmed entirely according to biodynamic principles. The estate's approach centres on showcasing its terroirs through single-plot cuvées from carefully selected crus, lieux-dits and monopoles. Each wine celebrates the authentic expression of Chenin Blanc, the signature grape variety of the Loire region.

The vineyard
The "Veau" cuvée is a white wine from Anjou sourced from one of the three plots named in the original decree establishing the Quarts-de-Chaume appellation. The west-facing vines are rooted in schist soils, which give this wine remarkable minerality and exceptional ageing potential.

Blend
This 2022 Veau from Domaine Belargus is made from 100% Chenin Blanc.
