Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Chardonnay "Les Normins" 2022 Domaine des Marnes Blanches
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful yellow hue with lightly golden highlights, reflecting its long ageing process.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals great complexity, blending scents of dried fruit such as apricot and citrus peel with delicate notes of honey and spice. Subtle floral touches and an iodised minerality round out the whole harmoniously.
Palate
Full-bodied and enveloping, the palate offers a lovely concentration balanced by a finely etched minerality and refreshing acidity. Flavours of lemon, dried fruit and spice extend into a remarkably persistent saline finish.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with matured cheeses such as Comté. It also shines alongside roasted white meats, such as poultry, or fish prepared en papillote or topped with a creamy butter sauce.
Service and storage
Already enjoyable now for its mineral freshness, this Chardonnay "Les Normins" 2022 has a solid structure that will allow it to evolve favourably in the cellar until around 2030.
The authentic expression of a Côtes du Jura terroir by Domaine des Marnes Blanches
The estate
Founded in 2006 by Pauline and Géraud Fromont, Domaine des Marnes Blanches is located in the southern Revermont, in the heart of the Jura. Still run today by this passionate winegrowing couple, the estate spans around twelve hectares spread across several communes. Committed advocates of environmentally friendly viticulture, the current owners favour an organic approach and natural winemaking to fully express the authenticity of their terroirs. The estate has quickly established itself as a key reference in the region thanks to its remarkably pure cuvées.
The vineyard
Located within the Côtes du Jura appellation, the plot from which this wine originates lies on a distinctive terroir characterised by limestone soils rich in fossilised oyster shells and marine fossils. The vines benefit from deep root systems that draw out the mineral complexity of the subsoil, while naturally limited yields favour concentration in the berries.
Winemaking and ageing
The making of the Chardonnay "Les Normins" 2022 begins with hand-harvesting accompanied by rigorous sorting of the bunches. Fermentation takes place using indigenous yeasts. The wine then undergoes a long, meticulous ageing process, preserving the identity of the terroir. Finally, the cuvée is bottled with the utmost care.
Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay.
