Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Echezeaux Grand Cru 2024 from Domaine des Perdrix
Tasting
Colour
The wine shows a deep, brilliant red hue, a testament to its fine concentration.
Nose
The nose opens with ripe red fruit aromas, supported by spicy notes and a floral touch reminiscent of the delicacy of rose.
Palate
The attack is crisp and gives way to a complex palate, where silky tannins combine with refreshing acidity. The long, persistent finish reveals nuances of black cherry and liquorice.
Food and Wine Pairing
This grand cru is ideally paired with noble red meats, whether exceptional cuts of beef or furred game such as venison, prepared for example with a fruity touch. It also pairs very well with mature, characterful cheeses, such as Époisses or a Chambertin.
Serving and Cellaring
The Echezeaux Grand Cru 2024 from Domaine des Perdrix will be at its best served between 16 and 18°C. Its ageing potential is estimated at around 2030 to 2040, confirming this wine's ability to evolve favourably in the cellar over the long term.
An Echezeaux Grand Cru from Domaine des Perdrix, Combining Fruity Intensity and Silky Texture
The Estate
Located in Burgundy in the Côte de Nuits, Domaine des Perdrix was taken over in 1996 by the Devillard family and is now run by Amaury and Aurore Devillard. It extends over approximately 15 hectares and is distinguished by its quasi-monopoly on the Premier Cru Nuits-Saint-Georges "Aux Perdrix", as well as by a renowned parcel in Echezeaux Grand Cru. Over the vintages, the estate has established itself as a benchmark of the Côte de Nuits, driven by a constant pursuit of precision and elegance.
The Vineyard
The Echezeaux parcel of Domaine des Perdrix lies on a gentle south/south-east-facing slope, where the clay-limestone soil, dominated by brown clay earth scattered with small stones, promotes both concentration and good drainage. The Echezeaux vineyard benefits from old vines, some planted as early as the first half of the 20th century, which are managed using sustainable viticulture, with deliberately limited yields and a high planting density, typical of the great Burgundian terroirs.
Vinification and Ageing
The vinification of the Echezeaux Grand Cru 2024 reflects the estate's philosophy, based on a cold pre-fermentation maceration followed by punch-downs carried out without pump-overs, for a gentle extraction. Fermentation relies on indigenous yeasts, allowing a faithful expression of the terroir. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, with a significant proportion of new wood, giving it a structure conducive to harmonious development over time.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from Pinot Noir.
