Description
The finesse and precision of a Meursault Premier Cru white wine
The estate
A prestigious site in Burgundy, the heritage of Domaine du Château de Meursault is built on over 1000 years of history. At the beginning of the 19th century, the property was enlarged under the impetus of the Serre family, who considerably developed the estate. Since 2012, Domaine du Château de Meursault has been owned by the Halley family.
The Château de Meursault vineyard currently speads across nearly 65 hectares and comprises over 110 different plots of land, according to a typical Burgundian plot model.
The vineyard
This 1er Cru Perrières 2016, the flagship of the Château de Meursault estate, is a Meursault wine made from a 1.12-hectare parcel cultivated on the Perrières-Dessus climate. Located on a 45° mid-slope, the vines are planted on Jurassic limestone soils.
Vinification and ageing
The manual harvest is followed by a meticulous vinification process. Following static settling, the must is placed in oak barrels where it undergoes alcoholic fermentation. The wine is then aged on its lees in new oak barrels (35%) and second or third-fill barrels for 15 to 19 months.
The blend
The 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières by Domaine du Château de Meursault is a 100% Chardonnay.
