The Elegance and Mineral Precision of a Great Red Burgundy
The Estate
Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley embodies the excellence of Burgundy through the centuries. Now led by Eve and Erwan Faiveley, representing the seventh generation, the estate oversees a vast vineyard of 120 hectares spread across the region's most prestigious terroirs. A pioneer in its environmental approach, the estate distinguished itself by becoming the first Burgundian estate of this size to convert its entire vineyard to organic farming. Under the technical direction of Jérôme Flous, the wines combine respect for tradition with a contemporary vision.
The Vineyard
This Chambolle-Musigny comes from a 4.38-hectare plot located on the south-western edge of the renowned Grand Cru Bonnes-Mares. Rising to an altitude of between 280 and 300 metres and benefiting from a fine east-facing exposure, this terroir rests on a geological base of oolitic limestone. The soils, rich in clay and limestone, are scattered with hard stones, giving the wine its deeply mineral character and ensuring optimal natural drainage.
The Vintage
The year 2024 proved particularly challenging, marked by exceptional rainfall and the wettest spring in fifty years. These weather conditions led to significant mildew pressure and historically low yields. However, the northern part of the appellation, where this cru is located, was less affected by these weather hazards, allowing the teams to harvest fruit of excellent quality despite the challenges.
Winemaking and Aging
The making of the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Fuées" 2024 relies on traditional methods. Fermentation takes place in vats over a period of eighteen to twenty days, accompanied by gentle punching down. The wine then undergoes careful ageing of twelve to fourteen months in French oak barrels, allowing it to refine its structure.
