Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Marsannay Village 2023 from Domaine Faiveley
Tasting
Nose
The nose opens with a bouquet of red fruits, cherry and raspberry, enhanced by a note of juicy plum. Undergrowth nuances complete this palette, underscored by a discreet hint of spice.
Palate
The palate is supple, fresh and harmonious, carried by fleshy yet fine tannins. The red fruit expresses itself with generosity through to a delicate finish, extended by a notably persistent aromatic length.
Food and wine pairing
This Marsannay Village 2023 pairs beautifully with simple, flavourful cuisine. It goes harmoniously with roast white meats, such as poultry or veal, as well as with grilled red meats cooked medium. It also finds a fine echo in fine charcuterie or mushroom-based dishes, in a convivial spirit.
Serving and cellaring
The Marsannay Village 2023 from Domaine Faiveley is best served at around 14–16°C, a temperature that preserves the finesse of its fruit without accentuating its tannins. Gentle aeration, by opening the bottle about thirty minutes before serving, allows its bouquet to be fully revealed.
A Fresh, Fruity Marsannay Village, Typical of the Northern Côte de Nuits
The estate
Domaine Faiveley was founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. A family estate for seven generations, it is now run by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, supported by technical director Jérôme Flous. The estate extends over more than 120 hectares spread across the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte chalonnaise, and includes numerous Grands Crus, Premiers Crus and monopoles. Engaged in a conversion to organic farming, Domaine Faiveley combines family tradition with environmental commitment.
The vineyard
The vines that give rise to this cuvée are planted in Marsannay, the northernmost village of the Côte de Nuits. The soil, made up of marl, clay, stones and gravel, gives the Pinot Noir a beautiful aromatic complexity. The estate manages this vineyard using environmentally friendly practices, in keeping with its commitment to organic farming.
Vinification and ageing
The vinification of the Marsannay Village 2023 is carried out with respect for freshness and finesse of tannins, in line with the philosophy of Domaine Faiveley, which favours precise wines with ageing potential. The ageing is carefully managed in order to preserve the fruity expression of the Pinot Noir and the typicity of this northern terroir of the Côte de Nuits.
Grape variety
This Marsannay Village 2023 is made from 100% Pinot Noir, the noble grape of the Côte de Nuits, which here expresses all the freshness and elegance characteristic of the northern terroir of Marsannay.
