Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Mercurey Village "La Framboisière" Monopole 2024 from Domaine Faiveley
Tasting
Colour
This wine displays a deep red colour with slightly purplish hues, typical of a young Pinot Noir from a clay-based terroir.
Nose
The nose is young, fruity and spicy, dominated by aromas of ripe red berries, cherry and juicy raspberry. Hints of white pepper, flowers and fresh herbs, along with a touch of oak, complete this first aromatic impression.
Palate
The palate is nuanced, driven by cherry and raspberry fruit, accompanied by notes of fresh herbs, flowers and subtle touches of oak and spice. The medium-bodied structure is underpinned by velvety tannins and a distinct freshness, leading to a long, persistent finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
Mercurey Village "La Framboisière" Monopole 2024 is an ideal match for white meats, beef and small game. It also pairs beautifully with roast poultry with herbs or dishes made with red berry sauces, which highlight the fruity character of the wine.
Serving and Cellaring
Mercurey Village "La Framboisière" Monopole 2024 is best served at around 15-16°C. The estate recommends bottle ageing for 4 to 8 years for this climat, allowing the wine to be enjoyed in its fruity youth while also giving it the potential to evolve favourably over several years.
Mercurey "La Framboisière", a Fruity and Velvety Monopole of the Côte Chalonnaise
The Estate
Domaine Faiveley, a House founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, now extends over more than 120 hectares spread across the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, in Burgundy. Currently run by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, the seventh generation of the family, the estate cultivates a significant number of Grands Crus, Premiers Crus and monopoles, including the Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley and Mercurey "La Framboisière". Committed to a long-term environmental approach, the estate has undertaken the conversion of its entire vineyard to organic farming.
The Vineyard
The climat La Framboisière, in Mercurey, is a monopole wholly owned by Domaine Faiveley since 1933. It covers 11 hectares and 11 ares, on shallow, stony clay-limestone soils that offer good drainage, while the bottom of the slope features a cooler, more compact mix of clay and silt. East-facing, this climat is planted with Pinot Noir, with vines ranging in age from 1949 to 2022, combining old vines with more recent plots.
Winemaking and Ageing
The grapes for Mercurey Village "La Framboisière" Monopole 2024 are harvested by hand, a practice applied across the entire estate, which allows for a careful selection of the bunches before they arrive at the winery.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from Pinot Noir.
