Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Meursault 1er cru "Blagny" 2024 by Joseph Faiveley

Tasting notes

Appearance

The wine reveals a brilliant golden hue, particularly luminous.

Nose

The aromatic bouquet opens on delicate notes of white flowers and white-fleshed fruits such as peach and pear. Subtle hints of hazelnut, light almond and brioche add further complexity to the whole.

Palate

The attack is rich and round, evolving towards an elegant and lively palate, supported by a fine acidity. Flavours of fresh pear and lemon intertwine with a striking minerality, leading to a long saline finish with accents of gun flint.

Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs wonderfully with grilled noble fish such as sea bass or red mullet, as well as with scallops. It also enhances white meats in sauce, such as poultry with cream and mushrooms or slow-cooked veal, and accompanies matured cheeses such as Comté or Chaource perfectly.

Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this Meursault 1er cru "Blagny" 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of between 10 and 12 degrees. This wine will reveal its full cellaring potential until around 2035.

The mineral expression of a Meursault terroir by Domaine Faiveley

The estate

Founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is a true institution in Burgundy. Spanning more than 120 hectares spread across the region's finest slopes, this historic estate is today led by Eve and Erwan Faiveley, who represent the seventh generation. Committed to a strong environmental approach, the estate confirms its determination to preserve its viticultural heritage for the future.

The vineyard

Located to the south-west of the village of Meursault, the Blagny terroir benefits from an ideal south-east exposure. The vines flourish on deep soils, composed of marl and clay-limestone, which give the wine its highly characteristic mineral signature.

Vinification and ageing

After manual harvesting and a rigorous selection of the finest bunches, the wine benefits from careful ageing. It rests in French oak barrels for a period of twelve to fourteen months, allowing its aromatic complexity to be refined.
