Domaine Henri Rebourseau : Charmes-Chambertin Grand cru 2016

Dynamic, taut, with lovely length, offering a luscious fruit profile centered on ripe black fruits.

The 2016 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very high-toned bouquet, leaning more towards California than the Côte d’Or. It is pure and heady with cassis and blueberry aromas. It’s just a little too much. The palate is actually better, with fine grip on the entry, saturated tannins, quite spicy and peppery toward the finish. Not bad, but it lacks class and finesse. Tasted from an ex-domaine bottle in London.
