Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Reliefs 2023 Domaine Le Roc Des Anges
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a dark hue enhanced by violet highlights, reflecting the wine's youth and the beautiful concentration of fruit.
Nose
Particularly expressive, the bouquet reveals great complexity. It opens with aromas of black fruits such as blueberry and red cherry, harmoniously blended with notes of tapenade, freshly crushed pepper, rhubarb, sweet spices and garrigue.
Palate
The palate stands out for its density and silky texture. Both rich and intense, it offers a generous profile where sweet and savoury flavours find balance. The whole displays remarkable freshness and dynamism, with the aromas evolving elegantly throughout the tasting.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs perfectly with roast lamb. It also goes wonderfully with Mediterranean-inspired dishes, grilled game birds, braised veal, full-flavoured fish such as tuna or swordfish, as well as matured cheeses.
Service and storage
To fully enjoy all the complexity of Reliefs 2023, allowing it to breathe will let it open up and gradually release its aromas in the glass.
Other characteristics
This wine has an alcohol content of 13.5%.
The richness and precision of a red wine from IGP Côtes Catalanes
The estate
Founded in 2001 by Marjorie Gallet, Domaine Le Roc Des Anges has become a true benchmark in Roussillon. Located in Montner, the estate spans 40 hectares of vines cultivated biodynamically. The domaine takes its name from a vein of quartz running through its land. At the end of 2023, Thibault Ponthier became the majority owner of the estate, marking the beginning of a new chapter, while benefiting from the support of Marjorie and Stéphane Gallet during a transitional period.
The vineyard
Produced under the IGP Côtes Catalanes appellation, this wine comes from vines around 65 years old. The terroir consists of ancient schist and pure silica-enriched clay soils, encouraging deep root growth. The north-facing exposure, on the slopes of Força Réal, helps preserve the freshness of the berries in the face of the Mediterranean heat. The vineyard is managed according to biodynamic principles, with extremely low yields of just 17 hectolitres per hectare.
The vintage
The year 2023 was marked by drought conditions and periods of intense heat in the region. However, the altitude of the plots allowed for cooler nights, ensuring optimal ripening while preserving the aromatic freshness of the grapes.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand using small 20-kilo crates to preserve the integrity of the bunches and prevent any premature oxidation. The harvest date is determined through precise sensory evaluation and adherence to biodynamic cycles. Reliefs 2023 is vinified in a dedicated winery, designed to enhance the expression of the terroir through respectful methods.
Grape varieties
This blend is made up of Carignan, Syrah, Grenache and Lledoner Pelut.
